Initial Commission Meeting

Our first Commission meeting will be held on the campus of Catawba College in Salisbury on Monday, October 9th, from 10 AM until 3 PM. The meeting will be held as both an in-person and, for those unable to travel that day, a Zoom session.

We will be working on the specific agenda shortly, but in general, the following will be discussed on October 9:

• Welcome and overview of the commission, its goals and timeline
• Initial topics to address by the commission, such as:
  • Ballot access and registration (same-day, acceptable ID, etc.)
  • Mail-in ballots
  • Early voting process
  • Election day process
  • Vote counting
  • Post election process and certification (audits, etc.)
  • Candidate qualifications, finances, reporting
  • Ballot security (cyber security, list maintenance)
  • Election infrastructure and administration
• Assignment of commissioners to ‘working groups’ that will focus on one topic (listed above)
• Next steps: working group activities and plans
