BIOGRAPHY

Passionate about public education, Aimy is a lifelong educator and former candidate for the North Carolina House of Representatives. Aimy is the CEO of The New North Carolina Project and the New North Carolina Project Action First. NNCP is an organization geared towards expanding voter engagement and access in North Carolina. Aimy started this coordinated state-wide field program in 2021 to ensure that North Carolina’s voting body is representative of its diverse population. An educator and school principal for over 10 years, Aimy combined her love of education and leadership, and ran for the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2018 and 2020. She came in a close second, losing by less than 2,000 and 3,000 votes each election cycle. Aimy has now decided to dedicate her time towards ensuring these close margin losses in critical elections don’t happen again. She is also a multi-preneur serving as the Founder of Reach Consulting where she supports students to aim higher as they apply for college, earn scholarships, and prepare for the SAT/ACT. As a Realtor and Developer, she also builds affordable housing developments and commercial entities across the nation. She is a proud mother of five and wife to Pastor Michael Steele and currently resides in Concord, NC. Her areas of expertise are as follows: North Carolina Politics, Voter Registration, Education administration and finance, Education policy and leadership, Management strategy, Real estate developing, and Affordable/sustainable housing.
